Packery Channel Park

This narrow ribbon of gulf waters bordered by two fish-friendly jetties is all that separates Mustang Island to the north and Padre Island to the south. The waters that rush through here fill Corpus Christi Bay and feed the adjacent freshwater wetlands. Wrapped in a county park, equipped with a boat ramp and the Oak Motte Sanctuary, Packery Channel teems with wildlife – the kind you can lure on your line from the water and the kind you can capture in the air with your camera. The other great thing you can catch is rays – the beach in Packery Channel Park is a great place to spread out and soak in the sun.

Bird Island Basin

Part of Padre Island National Seashore, Bird Island Basin offers not only a boat ramp to Laguna Madre, but also a great place to launch a kayak. This Basin is one of the top windsurfing spots in the nation because of its steady wind, warm water, and shallow depths. This is a great place to learn the sport. Swimming is permitted on all beaches.

Mustang Island

If you are hoping to achieve total relaxation while out on your kayak, Mustang Island is the place to go. The 18-mile stretch of land sits in the middle of Packery Channel and the easternmost point of Corpus Christi’s gulf shore border. Popular among locals and visitors to the area, it offers picture worthy beaches and ideal waters for kayaking.

Lighthouse Lakes Trails Park

This launch site is located in between Aransas Pass and Port Aransas on Redfish Bay. It provides access to nearby popular fishing spots of the Aransas Channel and Lighthouse Lakes Trails.
